Karis is an MC/rapper, host and songwriter, who owns and runs promotions company, 'Hardstep Sistaz'', assisting in the promotion of female artists worldwide. With over ten years involvement in the music industry. Karis originally established herself in the drum n bass scene based in London reknown as Lady MC and worked hard through the male dominated scene to become a recognized and respected artist. When people hear the name 'Lady MC', it thrives in recognition through countless performances and radio shows around the globe. Having worked with Tommy Dee (Kanye West & Kylie Minogue’s productions), Michael Jackson’s Choreographer, Sean Cheeseman and toured about the Eastcoast of USA having the proviledge of working with the likes of the Zulu Nation, performing with the pioneers of Hiphop, Afrika Bambaata, Kool Herc and TC Izlam Karis in just 9 months (2007) has been casted on two prime time TV shows for the BBC and Channel 4 with more television work in the pipeline …with included features with BBC 1xtra and maintains a regular show on London’s Award Winning, Kool FM while performing countrywide hosting drum and bass events whilst working in her rap/pop group Don Diva.
Performing through many countries in Europe and the UK enables Karis is be a highly experienced performer in all forms and is guaranteed to tear the roof off any event she is booked to play at! A glowing distinctive voice identifying Karis, through her lyrics tell her stories and emotions; listening to the content may give you a better understanding of where she has come from and where she intends on going; shining through the realness of her life, conscious lyrics with clarity in her delivery live or recorded. An artist capable of working on any musical beat whatever the tempo - a class of versitlity! An entertainer that has been making marks through-out the world working with the likes of the Godfathers, Kool Herc & Afrika Bambaata, Tim Westwood, Grooverider, Fabio, Rap, Storm, Kenny Ken, Nicky Blackmarket, Jumpin Jack Frost, Zinc, Dillinja, & DJ Craze; just to name a few. Her professionalism and tempo is inviting at any DJ as she takes the set to a completely next level.
Karis recently signed a single-deal with BONK Recordings with 'Jump Up', the feedback and play has been phenomenol but now being held back until 2008.
Her feature on BBC 1Xtra 'MC Sessions with L Double', proved to be beneficial showcasing 'How It Is' produced by Philly Da Kid. Karis receieved an invitation to feature on 'Musicool' on Channel 4, a musical project working on unsigned talent, which then led to a documentary for the BBC with her group Don Diva working alongside legendary producer Tommy Dee 'Singing with the Enemy' which was screened in October 2007 and the feedback from industry heads and the general public has been amazing.
Reknown for assisting other female artists on their career path, Karis works closely with young, up and coming talent Karis has been a resident judge for 'Phuture Hype' which was used for Channel 4's ' Chancers', which lead her to working more in the community with school projects and is now also a child mentor, assisting children with or without talent and growing them with a more positive way using the music as a channel.
